The #9 shank is strong and smart, featuring a sturdy, narrow profile to maximise hardpan shattering without the ill-effects of unintended soil inversion. Full-length shin guards protect the full face of the shank, preventing it from excessive wear and tear and increasing its working life.
The shank’s blade pierces the ground to the working depth, acting as a wedge that lifts the soil. This lifting action causes the soil to crack upwards and shatter into clods, which then crumble around the shank as it moves through the ground aerating the soil.
With a range of blade options including plain, hardfaced, tungsten hardfaced, or with bisalloy wings, you can be confident the #9 Shank Assembly provides all the tools you need to shatter deep subsurface hardpan and ensure your paddock’s productivity for seasons to come.
Up to a massive 6,214 kg (13,690 lbs) breakout at the blade on rigid assemblies with shear pin operation.
The hydraulic assembly supports up to 1,846 kg (4,070 lbs) breakout measured at the blade.
The narrow profile of the #9 shank not only avoids undesirable soil inversion, but minimises the heavy draft requirements required when undertaking deep ripping operations, saving diesel input costs.
The #9 hydraulic shank features a unique scissoring breakout action. This mechanism sees the shank break back along a wide radial arc, rather than pivoting from a single point. This action helps the tyne better navigate unexpected subsurface obstacles, protecting the shank and assembly from damage if rocks or stumps catch the blade.
Hydraulic shanks are pressurised by the tractor's hydraulic system. As the shank arcs back, oil is forced out of its cylinder back into the circuit, increasing accumulator pressure. When the obstacle is cleared, the accumulator forces oil back into the cylinder, returning the shank back to its operating position.
The #9 Shank can be fitted with easy-to-attach bolt-on options and accessories to increase the versatility and productivity of your plough. These include: , such as coulters, inclusion plates, mulch blades, sweeps, furrowers and fertiliser tubes

The #8-9 Hybrid Shank Assembly enables farmers and contractors to harness the benefits of the #9 blades and shinguards on legacy Agrowplows fitted with the older #8 Shank Assembly.
The assembly can be retrofitted to third-party ploughs with supported RHS sizes, so non-Agrowplow owners can experience the superior ripping performance the #9 blades provide.
Can be retrofitted onto most ploughs with a supported frame mount size.
