We have released updates to our popular AP71 and AP91 broadacre deep rippers, named the AP72 and AP92 respectively. A brand new flagship model AP102 has also been released, with an update to the mid-sized AP51, the AP52, planned for later in 2023.
We have released updates to our popular AP71 and AP91 broadacre deep rippers, named the AP72 and AP92 respectively. A brand new flagship model AP102 has also been released, with an update to the mid-sized AP51, the AP52, planned for later in 2023.
For the AP92, this new tillage implement builds on the success of the AP91, which allowed for deep ripping up to 600mm in broadacre operations. The AP92 uses the same principles in a more compact form factor, allowing farmers with smaller or mixed operations to address deep soil compaction without needing to upgrade their tractors to do so.
The key benefit of the AP91 - and now the AP92 - is its unique leading-trailing shank design. A row of leading shanks work up to 450mm deep to fracture surface and subsurface soils. The trailing shank rows work in the furrow left by the leading row, ripping up to 600mm deep to reach deep subsurface compaction. This efficient design allows operators to ameliorate hardpans and deep subsurface compaction while minimising drawbar requirements and input costs.
Agrowplow sales manager Rhys McGrath says broadacre farmers have been benefitting from the AP91’s leading-trailing shank design since it was released five years ago, with many of them seeing positive yield responses multiple seasons later.
“We designed the AP92 to give those same benefits of healthier soils and higher yields to farmers on mixed or specialised farms.
“It’s about offering the right implement to fit the scale of your farm. The AP92 helps fill the niche where farmers are looking for a solution to deep soil constraints but don’t want to have to meet the input costs of a farm five times their size,” Rhys says.
The AP92 offers the ability to reach deep compaction in smaller working widths - between 3.5 and 6 metres. It is also available in a range of working rows and spacing from 500 to 750mm to allow farmers to pick the right machine to suit their operation and their soils.
All new Agrowplow models use the same innovative #9 Shank Assemblies as the other rippers in the Agrowplow range, ensuring farmers can get the same benefits across the entire lineup, including a narrow profile to reduce drawbar requirements, full-length shinguards and heavy-duty blades to protect the shank, with up to 4,790kg breakouts at the blade. The #9 Shank Assembly can also be outfitted with Agrowplow’s range of shank options, including fertiliser tubes, sweeps, and inclusion plates.
Deep ripping has provided yield increases of between 0.5 to 1 tonne per hectare, particularly when combined with inclusion plates, which allow topsoil slotting and easy incorporation of top-dressed soil ameliorants into the topsoil layers.
